Heat Pumps System Installers North Yorkshire

There are two main types of heat pumps – air source and ground source. Both work very much like a fridge in reverse. A fridge takes heat from the inside and transfers to the outside whereas heat pumps take heat from the air or ground and transfer it to the inside of your home or business premises.

We can offer people Heat Pumps and Solar Thermal systems under the new government incentive.

Air Source Heat Pumps

Air source heat pumps are being used increasingly in the UK. Although they are electrically driven, in an efficient system 1kW of electricity can provide 3kW of heat, thus reducing heating costs and carbon emissions. They are more efficient when left on continuously and are particularly suited to buildings that require heat much of the time. They also work much better in a well-insulated building. They can be used for underfloor heating or to heat radiators and hot water.

We are accredited NIBE, Mitsubishi, Samsung, Vallaint and Panasonic Air Source Heat Pump installers. These can reduce heating costs by up to 75% in areas that rely on LPG Oil or are "all electric", with a further incentive of being able to receive payment for your investment in Environmentally Green Technology via the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) for 7 years, TAX FREE & INDEX-LINKED to the RPI (Retail Price Index - a measure of inflation).

This technology can be a superb addition to anyone who already has a Solar Panel (PV) system installed, as the electricity the panels provide helps the heat pumps work harder, so further reducing heating costs and CO2 and increasing your Return On Investment (ROI).

Also, people might not be aware that it can be very cost-effective to keep their existing boiler if it is not that old and add a heat pump onto the property, to provide the primary heating source, whilst only using their Oil/LPG boiler below a set temperature and for the hot water, so that the existing boiler only provides the heating supply a fraction of the time. This also helps reduce heating costs significantly and takes advantage of the RHI payback scheme. Plus at the same time it is cost effective, in that the client retains his existing radiators for heating the house and keeps the existing hot water cylinder BUT also has two heating supplies in the case of an emergency with one system going down.

Ground Source Heat Pumps

Ground source heating systems work in much the same way as air source but instead of drawing heat from the air they draw it from the ground. A few metres down the earth remains at a constant temperature of around 10-15 degrees in the UK. This latent heat can be transferred to your home using a horizontal collector or a vertical bore hole. These systems are very stable – they have no moving parts and a typical heat collector can last 50 years with no maintenance providing essentially free heat for a long period of time with no carbon emissions.

Both of these renewable technologies will be supported by the Green Deal, details of which will be available later in the year.
